The premise that science is certain and once “discovered “ is infallible, appears to significantly contribute to everything from religious and political dogma to societal intolerance. Paradoxically, in the pursuit of truth, an acceptance of the scientific method is necessary.

The scientific method requires constant questioning and not just of conclusions reached but of life, the universe and everything. In science nothing can be totally confirmed or refuted. What if there was a grain of truth in a conspiracy theory? What if there is a higher power providing us with a life-force?

Perhaps the realisation that the scientific method is theory and that truth is not constant will provide its own certainty.
