In those with mental health challenges I find myself asking: what if medicine was, while well meaning, using chemical constraints that prevent the development and growth of individual? We accept that the potential for physical harm to self and others is justification for these constraints but is the individual’s soul / consciousness being inadvertently harmed?
While I would have acted exactly as you did, I struggle with the value of symptom suppression in mental health. Surely there is a better way. Is this not the soul seeking balance? Stanislav Grof purportedly cured hundreds of patients using psychedelics and holotropic breath work, emphasising the spiritual battles that the individual faced.
What ecstasy it must be to feel that flying is possible.
